DICOM Anonymizer Light is a simple and free utility for anonymizing single DICOM 3.0 files, both in "Part-10 compliant"
and "raw" formats.
It allows removing from the DICOM files all information that may jeopardize patient's or physicians' privacy.
This information, embedded into the DICOM file along with the actual image(s), includes the patient's name, the patient's date
of birth, the patient's address, the names of all the physicians that have been involved in the process of generation of the DICOM file,
the dates of acceptance and of performance of the exams, and so on.
In many cases, prior to publishing (for instance, on the Web) or distributing in any way the DICOM files containing medical images,
it is necessary to anonymize them.
The Graphical User Interface of the DICOM Anonymizer Light allows the user to choose which data to anonymize and which data to leave
unchanged. In any case, the DICOM Anonymizer Light does not change the length of the Data Elements belonging to the DICOM Data Set,
thus maintaining a consistent file structure.
The DICOM Anonymizer Light supports all Transfer Syntaxes defined by the DICOM 3.0 standard; hence, it is able to decode and re-encode
the content of virtually any DICOM 3.0-compliant file.
The DICOM Anonymizer Light has been developed in Java, so it is compatible with every Operating System for which a Java Virtual Machine
is available (Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Solaris, etc.).
