DICOM
Anonymizer Pro v1.1.19 now available!
DICOM Anonymizer Pro is a powerful cross-platform
utility for anonymizing and editing DICOM 3.0 files and
folders, both in "Part-10 compliant" and "raw"
formats.
In many cases, prior to publishing (for instance, on the Web)
or distributing in any way DICOM files containing medical images
of interest, it is necessary to remove all personal identifying
information from those files, that is, to anonymize
them.
DICOM Anonymizer Pro allows removing from DICOM files all information
that may jeopardize patient's or physicians' privacy.
This information, embedded into the DICOM file along with the
actual image(s), includes the patient's name, the patient's date
of birth, the patient's address, the names of all the physicians
that have been involved in the process of generation of the DICOM
file, the dates of acceptance and of performance of the exams,
and so on.

The Graphical User Interface of the DICOM Anonymizer Pro allows
choosing which standard Data Elements to anonymize and which to
leave unchanged. In addition, the user may specify if he also
wants to anonymize Private Data Elements and/or
other Data Elements. It allows specifying custom values
for many DICOM Data Elements, thus also acting as a DICOM
Data Set editor. The user may choose several different
options for the creation of the anonymized files, starting from
the original source DICOM files (overwrite the original files,
create new anonymized files with an '.anonym' filename suffix,
create the anonymized files in a new root folder, ask user to
specify the filename for each anonymized file). Finally, a Correspondence
File may also be created, which can be used to partially re-identify
the anonymized files. All these preferences are saved
and remembered across different invocations.
The DICOM Anonymizer Pro is able to anonymize both single
DICOM files and full directory trees with subdirectories.
In any case, the DICOM Anonymizer does not change the length of
the Data Elements belonging to the DICOM Data Set, thus maintaining
a consistent file structure and total size.
The DICOM Anonymizer Pro may also be executed in Command-line
Mode, thus allowing an easy integration
with existing applications and software procedures.
The DICOM Anonymizer Pro supports all Transfer Syntaxes
defined by the DICOM 3.0 standard; hence, it is able to decode
and re-encode the content of virtually any DICOM 3.0-compliant
file.
The DICOM Anonymizer Pro has been developed in Java,
so it is compatible with every Operating System for which a Java
Virtual Machine is available (Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Solaris,
etc.).
